alpha Kappa Delta Phi was established at the University of California at Berkeley in the fall of 1989 by Susan Kim, Fannie Pon, Jill Yoshimura, and Reina Yuan. The sorority was built upon the principle of promoting sisterhood and Asian awareness in the community. On February 7, 1990, the sorority was recognized by the College Panhellenic Association. Since its establishment at the University of California Berkeley in 1989, alpha Kappa Delta Phi has expanded nationwide, with chapters at: UC Berkeley, UC Davis, UC San Diego, UC Santa Cruz, UC Riverside, Stanford University, UT Austin, University of Pennsylvania, UT Houston, UC Irvine, University of Michigan, Sacramento State University, Pennsylvania State University, San Jose State University, Cal Poly-SLO, University of Washington, Boston University, Cornell University, SUNY at Buffalo, Johns Hopkins University, Baylor University, University of Washington, NYU, University of Illinois at Chicago, and the University of Virginia. Across the country, all these chapters strive to obtain the common goals of encouraging friendship, sisterhood, and Asian awareness.
